Laura Kneip is thankful for second chances. The first time the former cosmetologist and esthetician applied to work at Kalon things just wouldn’t come together schedule-wise.
But when Kalon’s director called her to re-open the discussion last fall, she was able to say yes to a position that centered on her favorite parts of working with people with the added benefit of a predictable schedule.
“I love it there! The consistency, my co-workers, the patients — all of it has been wonderful!” she says.
Laura is in the reception area Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays where she enjoys the variety that comes with answering the phone, helping make appointments, selling products, and everything else that naturally arises in a busy office. Even more than all that, Laura looks forward to getting to know the clients who come through Kalon’s doors.
“Kalon’s clients are so consistent that you really get to be on a first name basis with everybody. There’s a level of professionalism and a true love of patients that I like being part of.”

That dedication to professionalism shows most in the way Kalon emphasizes education for its employees. From products to services, the entire staff is always being challenged to learn more, especially about technology and latest advancements.
“I really like the clinical part of things. It’s amazing what technologies are out there and how much thought goes into getting good results,” she says.
Laura describes her work day as “consistently busy”, but with a husband and two girls ages 9 and 12 at home, that might capture more than just her work day. The Kneip family lives in Sioux Falls where both girls are into perfecting their skateboarding tricks, and Laura encourages lots of art projects.
